Biography

Masami Akaike (S'65–M'84–SM'91–F'98) was born in Kanagawa, Japan, in October 1940. He received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electronics engineering from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 1964, 1966, and 1969, respectively.
Since 1992, he has been a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tokyo University of Science, Tokyo, Japan. His research interests are microwave photonics and their applications.
Dr. Akaike is a Fellow of the Institute of Electronics, Information, and Communication Engineers (IEICE).
