Biography
Hooman Akhavan (M'10) received the B.Sc. degree in applied physics from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 1997, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, in 2003 and 2007, respectively.
He was a Visiting Assistant Professor with the Department of Physics and Photonics, Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran, from 2008 to 2010. He is currently a Visiting Researcher with the Biophotonics Group, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada. His past research interest was on modeling and experimental analysis of optical microdisk resonators. His current research interests include biosensing applications of photonic crystal nanostructures.
Dr. Akhavan is a member of the Optical Society and the International Society of Optics and Photonics.
