Biography

Miguel F. Anjos (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. degree from McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada, in 1992, the M.S. degree from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA, in 1994, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 2001.
He is currently the Chair of operational research with the School of Mathematics, The University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, U.K., and the Scholler Senior Fellow with the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Erlangen, Germany. He was previously on the Faculty of Polytechnique Montreal, Montreal, QC, Canada, the University of Waterloo, and the University of Southampton, Southampton, U.K. His research interests include the theory, algorithms, and applications of mathematical optimization. He is particularly interested in the application of optimization to problems in power systems management and smart grid design.
Dr. Anjos is also a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. His accolades include the Canada Research Chair, the Humboldt Research Fellowship, the title of EUROPT Fellow, and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
