Biography
Tatsuo Kawamura (M'59–SM'89–F'91) was born in Tokyo, Japan, on August 16, 1930. He received the B.S. Eng., M.S., and Dr.Eng. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Tokyo, in 1954, 1956, and 1959, respectively.
He joined the Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo, in 1959, and became a Professor there in 1969. Currently, he is a Professor at the Shibaura Institute of Technology and an Emeritus Professor with the University of Tokyo. He has been concerned mainly with high voltage and electric power engineering.
Dr. Kawamura is a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan and several academic societies.
