Biography
Juan Antonio Ortega received the M.S. Telecommunication Engineer and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in 1994 and 1997, respectively. In 1994, he joined the UPC Department of Electronic Engineering as a full time Associate Lecturer. In 1998, he obtained a tenured position as an Associate Professor. Since 1994 he has taught courses of microprocessors and signal processing. From 1994 to 2001 he was with Sensor Systems Group working in the areas of smart sensors, embedded systems, and signal conditioning, acquisition and processing. Since 2001 he belongs to the Motion Control and Industrial Applications research group working in the area of motor current signature analysis. His current research activities include: motor diagnosis, signal acquisition, smart sensors, embedded systems and remote labs. In the last years, he has participated in several Spanish and European funded research projects about these items.
