Wide-angle acquisition and volumetric reconstruction in position emission tomography the goal, the problems and implementation
A method of acquiring wide angle PET data has been described, the practical reasons for this development have been outlined. The ensuing problems associated with this have been addressed, and techniques are being developed to correct for them. The results generated from the preliminary studies suggest that the wide angle data acquisition is an acceptable approach to increase camera sensitivity, and with appropriate reconstruction software, an increase in image resolution and statistics.<>
