Sectorization gain in CDMA cellular systems
This paper presents an analytical method for estimation of sectorization gain in CDMA cellular systems. Non-ideal antenna radiation patterns are investigated in order to identify the factors which limit the sectorization gain. These include environment related factors, i.e. path loss exponent and standard deviation of shadowing, handover schemes i.e. hard, soft and soft/softer handovers, and different non-ideal sectorized antenna radiation patterns such as a nearly-ideal radiation pattern and a practical radiation pattern. The numerical results show that the sectorization gain is influenced by all the above factors. The effect is more considerable when soft or soft/softer schemes are deployed in the system.
