Controlling a 33 kV flexible power link in GB's distribution network
In Great Britain, Western Power Distribution is trialling an AC-DC-AC power electronics-based "Flexible Power Link" to interconnect two areas of 33 kV distribution network, balancing real power flows and providing voltage support. This paper describes the control module that is used to dispatch setpoints to the Flexible Power Link to alleviate network violations, based on visibility of conditions within the wider distribution network.
